More Earthquake fun...

I found these clips of different productions here in LA that suffered the wrath of Tuesdays' 5.4 Earthquake. They are pretty entertaining.

Big Brother

Judge Judy

And a little retro David Letterman video poking fun at LA quakes.

I'm just glad no one was hurt and we can all laugh at it now.

Jesus found in a bag of Cheetos...

Who would have thought in this day and age people would find inspiration in the simplest of places. Like a bag of Cheetos. Dubbed "Cheesus," this little piece of cheesy goodness is being touted by one family as the best thing ever found in a bag of chips. See for yourself...

The Great Quake of 2008...

A major "groundbreaking" occurrence in the world of Kristian Odland today. Just before noon I experienced my first Los Angeles Earthquake. I was shocked and caught off guard by the 5.4 earth rumble, but normal Angelenos didn't seem to be phased. It was almost as if quakes happen so frequently they are numb to it. I guess I haven't lived here long enough to know that, but I thought it was a big deal. I mean my entire fourth floor office shook all over the place. And I don't know about you, but when buildings are moving, I 'm worried for my safety. It wasn't a pleasant experience. Gotta love the picture above. I think it captures exactly how most Los Angeles residents felt about today's tremor.

The time has come to GEEK OUT...

That's right boys and girls, Kristian is making the trek down to San Diego for his 1st ever Comicon experience. I really don't know what to expect, but I am very excited. I will be at the convention all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It might be a bit of an overload on Comic Books, Movies and television shows, but I am very anxious to see what Comicon has to offer. I don't know how often I will get to blog, but I will at very least try to utilize Jott.com and call in blog entries as thing happen down there. I anticipate that there will be LOADS to share so stay tuned...

CRANK 2 stills, WHAT THE?

We already know that Jason Statham is reprising his role as adrenaline junkie Chev Chelios in Crank 2: High Voltage. But these pictures make me wonder what exactly Chev is smokin' in next years sequel. These photos appear to be of some sort of depiction of Jason's head only with exaggerated facial features. Must be for a dream sequence, or hallucination. Either way they are very cool, almost like a character from Dick Tracy.

Terminator Salvation: Christian Bale

He's pulled off the perfect magic trick in The Prestige, he did the impossible and got a famous outlaw to the train on time in 3:10 to Yuma, he beat down the Joker and his henchmen in The Dark Knight, and he even beat up his mother and sister in real life. NOW, Christian Bale is taking down Terminators in the new McG film Terminator Salvation. I must say that this still (below) gives me goosebumps. I love the Terminator franchise and I'm hoping this reinvention brings back the badness that once existed in the world of John Connor.

I'm BEATman, I mean Batman...

I can't believe that only days after the AMAZINGNESS that was the Dark Knight blew up in theaters, leading man, Christian Bale beats his 61 year old mother like one of the Joker's Thugs. What the....

OH the irony in this statement made by both Harvey Dent (aka Two Face) and Batman in The Dark Knight:

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Watchmen finally come...

I'm currently reading this book called the Watchmen. It is one of the most critically acclaimed graphic novels of all time. Written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons, Watchmen, Originally published by DC Comics as a monthly limited series from 1986 to 1987, it was later republished as a trade paperback, which popularized the "graphic novel" format. To date, Watchmen remains the only graphic novel to win a Hugo Award, and is also the only graphic novel to appear on Time Magazine's 2005 list of "the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present."

Now, after 20 years in the making the time has come for the Watchmen to come to the BIG screen. I'm sure all of you that went to the Dark Knight already saw it, but marvel at the greatness of 300 director Zack Snyder's next big film.

Are Grindhouse films making a comeback?

I don't know how this film slipped by me, but it looks superb. I just watched the trailer for the first time and I am SOLD on checking this out already. In the same vein as 2007's Grindhouse AND produced by Quentin Tarantino and the brothers Weinstein, Hell Ride looks like it belongs on the Drive-in big screen and in my personal collection. Check it out...

TERMINATOR SALVATION TRAILER...

It has leaked and I must say, it looks promising. I REALLY hope this won't do disservice to the original franchise. It WILL be rated PG-13, according to this article, which scares me. But then again, Christian Bale hasn't done a crappy movie for eons. Cross your fingers with me and maybe, just maybe, the ASS KICKERY will be plentiful in this film.

Now, watch the trailer before the studio pulls it off the web. DO IT NOW!!

Bruce Campbell on ANOTHER Evil Dead Movie...

Over the past few years there have been several rumors that Director/Producer Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 1, 2, 3) would possibly be bringing his cult classic franchise, The Evil Dead, back from the grave. That's right, a possible remake. But it seems all this talk is just that...ALL TALK.

In this interview with Entertainment Weekly (below), Bruce Campbell, costar of USA's Burn Notice, talks about the rumors, and possibilities of another installment of the Evil Dead franchise.

Basically, until Bruce and Sam are not busy making GIGANTIC amounts of MONEY on big budget films/TV shows, there will most likely NOT be another Evil Dead movie. BUT there is still a glimmer of hope (A VERY TINY GLIMMER).

In an interview with IGN.com, Sam Raimi said that one of the main reasons he and Rob Tapert formed Ghost House Pictures in 2002 was so that they could return to their horror roots and bring scares back to audiences. Raimi added, "One of the things we said [when forming Ghost House] was, 'Where are we going to get new material from?' Well, we thought we could get someone to remake Evil Dead as one of our horror films. We just thought that was an experience worth remaking because we have a horror company. But then we never really pursued it. We said we were going to do it and then we got so busy with other projects we never actually pursued it. So we still want to do it, we still think it's worth trying and I still have not done a single thing about it."

Let's hope Sam actually follows through. In the meantime enjoy the amazing ridiculousness of Evil Dead II:

Wanna keep the neighbor kids out of your yard?

It would be great fun to put several of these in the yard. The neighbors would think you are demented and would tell their kids to stay away for that very reason. Talk about a cheap security system and for $89.95 you can have a unholy zombie breaking out of you lawn too. Go ahead, replace your "Garden Gnome" with a "Yard Zombie."

Hands Free from now on...

It's official, today is the first day of the HANDS FREE cell phone Law in California. Finally some relief on the already over-trafficked highways of California. The Law makes it completely illegal for anyone to use a handheld wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle. BUT Motorists 18 and over may use a "hands-free device (ie, bluetooth, ear piece, etc)."

Don't worry too much because it looks like the fine isn't really that much of a financial setback, nor will it show any points on your driving record. According to the new law, The base fine for the FIRST offense is $20 and $50 for subsequent convictions. With the addition of penalty assessments, the fines can be more than triple the base fine amount.
